About Us
We at the Abingdon Church of Christ invite you to worship with us. We meet at 9:30 on Sunday Morning for Bible Class and 10:30 for Worship. We feel sure that you will find us to be friendly, but above all, a church that desires to exalt Jesus.
If you would like someone to study the Bible with you, just need a friend or if we can be of service to you in some other way, please call on us. Our preacher’s name is Bill Haywood and he can be reached at our building at 628-6253 or at his home at 623-1104.
Christ’s Church
The church should be Christ-centered, shouldn’t it? After all, Jesus promised, “I will build my church” (Matthew 16:18). The church belongs to Jesus.
In Acts 20:28, we are told that Jesus purchased the church “with His own blood”. Jesus is the rightful owner of the church.
We are told in Ephesians 1:22 that Jesus is the “head over all things to the church” Jesus is in charge of the church.
Shouldn’t the church be Christ-centered? This is our quest, to be a Christ-centered people through submissive obedience to the will of God (Hebrews 5:9; Matthew 7:21-23). We eagerly invite others to join us in this quest.
You may be asking, “Who are these people?” That is a good question. Allow us to tell you about ourselves.
A Teaching Church
The Bible also tells us that the mission of the church is to teach the gospel of Christ to all who will listen to it (Matthew 28:18-20). To that end, we have Bible classes for all ages on Sundays and throughout the week (2 Timothy 2:15). The sermons are also designed to be Biblical and Christ-centered.

Where We Are Located
We worship in the round building located off Exit 14 of Interstate 81. Regardless of the direction you approach from on I-81, turn left off the exit ramp onto Old Jonesboro Road then turn right onto Dennison Drive which is the first road you'll come to. The building will be on the left in about a 1/4 of a mile next to Abingdon Animal Hospital.
